In vivo cytogenetic effects of 2-trans hexenal on somatic and germ cells of laboratory mice

چکیده
The in vivo cytogenetic effects of 2-trans hexenal were evaluated by investigating chromosomal aberrations and sperm head abnormalities in the bone marrow cells of laboratory bred Swiss albino mice. Single intraperitoneal injections of 8, 16 or 32 μl per kg bodyweight resulted in dose-dependent decreases in the mitotic index, significantly so at the higher doses and earlier times. Chromosomal aberrations per cell and the percentage of aberrant metaphase cells increased with dose, again fading with time. The percentage of abnormal sperm heads also showed a dose-related increase, with statistical significant again following the same pattern. The overall result suggests a weak but positive dose-response relationship between treatment and induction of chromosomal aberrations in the somatic cells, and induction of abnormal sperm head morphology in germ cells.

Background: Nicotine as a toxic agent in cigarette has detrimental effects on reproduction. The aim of this study was to evaluate effects of of nicotine on germ and somatic cells in adult mouse testis. Materials and Methods: Male mice were divided into four groups. Group A or controls, groups of B, C and D were treated with nicotine intraperitoneally in doses of 0.1, 0.2 and 0.4 mg/100 g body w...
متن کاملI-51: The Role of the Transcription FactorGCNF in Germ Cell Differentiation and Reproductionin Mice
The germ cell nuclear factor (GCNF) is a member of the nuclear receptor super family of transcription factors. GCNF expression during gastrulation and neurulation is critical for normal embryogenesis in mice. GCNF represses expression of the POU domain transcription factor Oct4 during mouse post-implantation development in vivo. Oct4 is thus down-regulated during female gonadal development, whe...
متن کاملEffect of Different Concentrations of Forskolin Along with Mature Granulosa Cell Co-Culturing on Mouse Embryonic Stem Cell Differentiation into Germ-Like Cells
Background: Germ cell development processes are influenced by soluble factors and intercellular signaling events between them and the neighboring somatic cells. More insight into the molecular biology of the germ cell development from embryonic stem (ES) cells and investigation of appropriate factors, specifically those targeting differentiation process, is of great importance. In this study, w...
